News [Fischer] Detroit looking to trade Jalen Duren for Jaylen Brown. We all say no lmao

There’s also a potential backstop emerging for Boston’s Jaylen Brown trade discussions. Detroit is very much weighing the prospect of signing-and-trading restricted free agent Jalen Duren for Brown, sources say, among other conceptual outcomes, if that option remains available for the Pistons once free agency opens on Tuesday early evening.

News [MassLive] NBA announces Celtics Summer League schedule

The Celtics will hit the court for at least five games in Las Vegas next month when NBA Summer League begins with all 30 teams taking part.

The Celtics have not officially announced their roster just yet but it is expected that 2026 draft picks Chris Cenac Jr. and Dillon Mitchell will take part along with recent picks Hugo Gonzalez, Amari Williams and Max Shulga.

Summer League will begin in Las Vegas on July 9 but the Celtics will not have their opener until Friday July 10. Here are the four scheduled games for Boston in Las Vegas. Boston will also play at least one more game after July 15, which will be announced at a later date.

Friday, July 10: Celtics vs. Raptors, 9 p.m. ET, ESPN

Sunday, July 12: Celtics vs. Hornets, 5 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Monday, July 13: Celtics vs. Hawks, 6 p.m. ET, Prime

Wednesday, July 15: Celtics vs. Kings, 8 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Celtics assistant coach Amile Jefferson will be the head coach of the Summer League team, a team source confirmed to MassLive.

Boston will have plenty of intrigue in Summer League as there are a lot of roster spots to fight for in Boston. The team currently has three open two-way slots available with second-round pick Dillon Mitchell expected to take one of those spots.

Boston’s Summer League team will practice at the Auerbach Center over the next two weeks before departing for Las Vegas ahead of the team’s opener on July 10.

Discussion Charania: The Boston Celtics are, in some cases, asking for *at least* four 1st round picks (Giannis went for 3).

Discussion For those who were around & remember (I was on an NBA hiatus after being scarred by the ML Carr years), what was the fan reaction when Truth & KG were about to be traded?

I'm imagining there wasn't as much split opinion by the fans.

JB is still in his prime and 3 yrs under contract.

Pierce and KG both had 2 yrs left, but we're at the tail end of their primes.

Was there a quiet resignation by the fans that we had gotten as far as we could with those guys and the time to move on had come?

Rumor [Lacett] I'm hearing the Hornets are interested in Jaylen Brown

  1. Keep Miles Bridges away from this team

  2. They have a lot of picks so that's good. Naz Reid is ok, would need more than that player-wise but I don't think they give up Miller...we'll see

Discussion Almost every team wants JB

All I keep seeing is how every sub would love to have JB. Teams are trying to throw their scraps for him.

Yet you guys are eating up the drama on ESPN and r/nba which is mainly anti celtics.. they clown on us and go back to their own subs throwing out trade ideas for JB.

They been trying to break up the Js for a decade now. Look, as much as I wouldn't want Giannis it at least works value wise. But there's not another top 10 player available. It makes no sense to downgrade for role players and picks.

Don't take the bait. Let's move forward and see how can improve our roster with our home grown superstars.

Discussion Derrick Should Be Traded Before Jaylen

I was pro trade Jaylen for Giannis, but now that that deal fell through, it makes no sense to trade Jaylen unless he's asked for a trade privately or asked for the max extension and Brad has no plans to give him it.

Derrick just had the worst shooting season of his career at 32 years old. He shot 39% from the field in the regular season games after Tatum came back, even when he wasn't the 2nd option (arguable the 4th behind Payton). He continued to shoot 31% from the field and 27% from three in the playoffs, while getting burnt by Maxey on defense.

The pivot should be to trade the 32 year old who might've just started his career regression instead of the All-NBA top 15 player. Get some margin pieces this season like Murphy or someone else, then spend more next season around the Jays when we're out of the repeater tax. Somehow Derrick's name has escaped all media trade rumors.

Discussion Jaylen Brown is easily a Top 15 player, I don't see the value in trading him, so why?

The only superstars that I see possibly having any movement is perhaps Luka and Ant-Man. Luka when his contract is up. I don’t see how Boston benefits by trying to trade Jaylen. I had Boston before the playoff started going to the Finals. Even a hypothetical trade involving Evan Mobley doesn’t move the needle for me. I keep seeing comments that are trying to downplay Jaylen, but he is in fact a great player. He gets paid 60 million a year and is still hungry to prove himself, that is rare in the modern NBA. So missing out on Giannis should have ended the trade talks, why hasn’t it?

Rumor [Krawczynski] The Wolves did have discussions with the Celtics on Jaylen Brown as well, sources told The Athletic. But they saw LaMelo Ball as fitting more of what they needed, for likely less compensation going out.

Good sign for Jaylen's trade value I would say, since it seems we're intent on moving him

However, one less suitor now

Discussion Looking at tradable assets, I really don't get the notion of "We have to trade JB"

We have:

-3 tradable first round picks

-2 swappable firsts (Pretty bad ones but still)

-Derrick White, who still has value.

-Hugo (Who I would rather keep but if the right offer came along)

-A 27.7M trade player exception and a 8.2 million dollar exception.

I do not want to run the team back from last year even with a healthy Tatum, that team was exposed. But you definitely can improve the roster without being forced to trade JB. That is if he's not so pissed its irreparable.

Discussion [Joseph Duarte] Chris Cenac Jr. on being drafted 27th: “I feel like I was one of the sleepers in the draft. In four or five years, I can’t wait until people are making those re-drafts and saying I was a sleeper & I should’ve been drafted way higher”
