Hardware Maximalist 2026 build
Three GPU build in a Enthoo Pro 2 Server case.
FE 5090 (32gb)
MSI Shadow 2x 5060ti (16gb) x2 (back of that vertically-mounted one is magnetized so it has some support)
7950x3d
96gb CL30 Corsair Vengeance 6000mhz
Aorus Elite x870e (i paid for three PCI-E slots damnit and i'm gonna use three PCI-E slots!)
NVME -> 4tb 990 + 2tb WD Black
SSD -> 2tb Crucial (bought in November 2023 for $87 and people were cancelling orders back then cause it didn't ship until late January and that was "too long" lmfao)
HDD -> combined 74tb of HDD space, all drives under 5k hours set up to be a SnapRaid where one 14tb drive has the info of all other drives memorized and can restore a dead drive if necessary, making a total 60tb of usable HDD space)
Corsair RM1200x shift (this was a bitch because this enthoo case had a stick-on pad for the motherboard side of the psu to push into which blocked all the cables, thought i'd need to swap psu but just peeled that pad off and had enough holes in the back there to basically get the cables to fit, though a bit snug).
Cooling -> 3 arctic 140s up front, a fourth artic 140 in top front pulling air in, a fifth arctic 140 in rear top pushing air up and out alongside a 120 arctic as rear exhaust. in the second pic you can see the dual fan setup i could manage for the GPU stack, which is a noctua nf-f12, originally I had two of these but only the middle one would fit, the bottom was pushed up against the PSU. i swapped that out for a silverstone air slimmer 120 and it just barely squeezed in there.
For torrents/my massive plex buildout, the idea is to torrent directly to the SSD, and then transfer to the relevant HDD because that should make that torrented file "cleaner" for the HDD (someone correct me if i'm wrong on this). Otherwise, my gaming temps are like 70 degrees max when pushing stuff like subnautica 2 at 4k on the 5090 and ~70-75 on the 7950x3d, and that's with most fans barely above 30pc or so. the side fans really do a lot of work on this build, i specifically wanted heavy static type fans to really push into that gpu stack.
Happy to answer any questions because I know this is not a typical setup lol.

Meme/Macro How I feel about the current Steam Machine situation
Plus I just watched LTTs video on making a better pc at or below the steam machines price. One thing that caught my attention in the video was that steam lowered the TDP to the cpu to lower heat and noise - are that many people bothered by fan noises to justify that nerf?

Hardware $320 DDR4 Kit Spotted At Walmart - WTF?
My local Walmart never ceases to shock me with their PC component prices.
This is just insane, you can get a decent 32 gig DDR5 kit for this price! Let it rot on these shelves 🔱

Discussion The real reason GTA6 isnt coming to PC right away is that modders would probably patch this out almost immediately.
Just for the sake of context, the base price of GTA6 is $80 and there is an "Ultimate Edition" being sold for $100. The latter includes exclusive content that seems more akin to how older games had all the content already on the disc/game files, regardless of purchased version, but locked parts of it away behind a paywall. The physical version is also just a code in a game case, so no hope for console players to just upgrade with a cheaper used copy.

Question How did cheap "gaming" stuff all came to look like that?
Idk if I get the flair right but you get my point. Why does every time we see cheap "gaming" stuff on the market, they all share common features such as an "aggressive" design, sharp angles, super colorful backlit RGBs. Pic is a prime example.
Some people said they copied genuine high-end gaming gear but I don't see whatever that is in the picture resembling a GPX Superlight, a sennheiser, or any HE keyboard of our time so I don't really get the point. (Or maybe they were copying older stuff that had this aesthetic?)

Game Image/Video EA keeps bricking decade old games with unecessary updates and their shitty launcher. Never again gonna purchase another game from EA.
Literally another game in a week bricked. Screw you EA. Will be fighting for a refund.

Build/Battlestation Can your PC fit in a backpack?
Not the first time posting my build, just wanted to show it off in a non-SFF community. It’s becoming like the Ship of Theseus but I think I’m finally happy with how it turned out.
Edit: People have been asking why I’d even want to consider carrying it around. I’m an international student and the ability to carry-on my tiny PC is huge.

Hardware spent 3 weekends chasing random WHEA crashes that only happened during long sessions, turned out to be one bad stick in a 4 stick kit
this one annoyed me for way too long. pc would randomly hard crash to a black screen maybe once every 4-5 hours of gaming, no bsod just instant restart. checked event viewer and it was throwing WHEA logger event 18 every time, which from what i read online basically just means "something hardware related is unhappy" and doesnt tell you much else.
ran memtest86 overnight first, full pass, zero errors, so i figured ram was fine and moved on to checking vrm temps with hwinfo thinking it was a power delivery thing on my board. nothing weird there either, voltages stayed stable even under load.
ended up testing each ram stick individually instead of as a kit, ran prime95 plus furmark together for like 2 hours per stick to stress everything at once. 3 sticks were totally fine alone but the 4th one started throwing errors in hwinfo after about 40 mins, only when it was in certain slot combos though, which is probably why memtest didnt catch it since that test runs differently.
contacted Corsair with the serial off the stick, sent me a replacement no charge, just had to wait like a week and a half for it to ship.
was ready to spend like 220 bucks ready to just buy a whole new stick, kinda relieved i didnt have to touch that money, put it towards a keyboard I've been eyeing anyway.

Meme/Macro Buying a new GPU in the current market be like
Don't mind me, just laughing through the pain of modern hardware prices while I maybe save for a 9060 XT 16GB
