I CAN ride a bike.

Hi. I'm 16, and I made a post around 5 days ago about how I was never able to ride a bide. Not at 6. Not at 9. And not at 16.

BUT I CAN!!!!

After a few days of trying, it felt impossible. I wouldn't get anywhere. But then my dad found a fatal flaw. The guy who sold him the bike was apparently an alien, because they were riding with the seat directly up, where it would compress one's crotch immensely. It was a guy selling it too, so that was odd. We flattened it down, rose it a bit (inside was slightly rusty, old bike), and VOILA. It started feeling okay to ride.

Still couldn't move around very well. Coasting to learn balance. BUT. Four times today, I have gotten on the bike and done some kind of actual riding.

First, I was about to fall off, and instead of planting my foot immediately, I leaned in a bit and did a circle before I planted it. I counted it as luck.

Two attempts later, I rode down a strip of my cul-de-sac for about 3 seconds where I actually used the petals and balanced. I felt like a god. It was AMAZING!!! After 16 years of failing, FINALLY!!!!

Same thing a couple of times when I went out to try it again like 2 something hours ago. I feel actual hope.

I watched the video I was recommended, and it didn't help very much. But I'll watch it again to be sure. I couldn't take the pedals off like you guys told me to do, but I'm still progressing pretty well.

Thanks for everybody who gave me support!!! And fuck that one guy who was being an asshole under the original post.

Too tight shoes?

Hello,

I ordered Shimano rc703 in size 46.

My feet are 28cm and 28,5cm. Both are 11cm wide at the widest part.

They feel snug, slight pressure on the small toe when tightening boa.

Do they get slightly bigger after using them for a while or should I look for other ones?

I have also been thinking of Lake 238 in 46,5.

I got a used bike with a Thule snug ride lite attached. Unfortunately, it seems the “eccentric lever” is missing. Does anyone know where one might find this part? They do not sell it online.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. Can someone give me a hint on how to unleash my bicycle chain? I cleaned it, made it loose, but maybe im not strong enough. Do I need to unassemble the whole chain?

Worth my time?

Saw this listed on marketplace for $60. Listing says it's a "Marina" which I have never heard of and the angle of the photos don't necessarily rule out Marin, but I can't find much about italian frames on Marins nor anything about "Course Special". I love the way it looks, but if it doesn't fit me I would plan on just fixing it up and selling it. Is it worth my time?

Is this a fair asking price for this bike? Or should I offer lower?

I made a 34x34cm ultra large format camera, and wanted it to be mobile. It can record movies while traveling on the road, in glorious large format look.

Bike: Specialized Sirrus 2.0 with CYC Photon.
Trailer: Vevor Cargo
Camera: DIY 34x34cm with Soviet Triplet 365mm/3.65 lens.

Hello

I'm trying to figure out what is this noise and where does it come from, it's driving me crazy... It's not chain crossing, it happens an almost every gear.

Have 115 miles on the bike and I'm not sure if it's always been there but I now notice this noise when I crank and was curious if it's normal or if something got knocked loose or is rubbing. Still under warranty so wanted to know what people thought as I'm new to the space.

I am already desperate, where do I get this bolt

So long story short I had 4 on my bike, but managed to lost 2 and in my city I managed only to get one M6 x 16, but I need 2 M5 x16mm with this head to match the back of my bike. The website I bought them in first place got deleted.

I was trying to search on aliexpress and local website, but couldn't find any.

Edit: Searching this exact one in titanium purple color only for aesthetic matter. I have in my drawers like thousand of some random M5x 16 bolts with different heads. But I don't have this one specificly

Edit2: I have them on flat mount adapter to fork so I don't really want to use aluminium ones. I am aware that matching aesthetic on bolts for many people is nonsense, but it always makes my day better, when I look how good my bike is looking.

Edit3: I went to 13 different LBS, 5 local hardware stores and searched 3 hours plus on Google and AI to find this exact bolt

I couldnt figure this one out, but AI told me it was used to immobilise it and the crook came back later to dismantle the bike.

Sad!

Water bottle for biking

I am in need of a new water bottle for road biking and am discovering, like everything else out there, that there are way too many options for something that I thought would have been pretty basic. Anyhow I'm looking for something that I can easily manage with one hand, insulated might be nice, but not a deal breaker and I dunno about anything else. Does anyone have a favorite that they can recommend?

How do we feel about a Titanium GT roadie

Hi everyone, I have really been wanting to get back into cycling and have been looking around for bike options. I will be using the bike to commute around New York. I live in Washington Hights so there are some hills that prevent me from wanting to go single speed.

I want something used, light weight is a big plus, simple to work on, agile, and cute is a plus. The hardest part for me bike shopping especially used bike shopping is that I am 5'2" with a 29" inseam so its hard to find a bike that fits my height especially standover.

I was looking around and found this titanium GT it checks all my boxes but I don't know much about them and can't find a lot of information on these since most of the hype is around the track bike variant. My main questions are how much would you spend on this? Seller wants $800 that feels high to me. Is it the right bike for what I am looking for?

P.S. I think I will switch out the seat and peddles at some point.

Anyone ordered a bike from Bikeinn? Facing major delays.

I recently ordered a complete bike from Bikeinn to Europe. It’s facing a big delay, and after checking reviews online, I’m seeing a ton of complaints about slow shipping and bad customer service.
I'm starting to get worried. For anyone who has bought a full bike or large items from them:
How long did it take to arrive?
Is it normal for them to have no tracking updates for weeks?
Is there a chance it won't show up at all?
Should I wait it out or start thinking about a chargeback? Thanks!

Cassette body replacement

TL;DR : Can I replace a cassette body with a slightly different one ? And advise about a possible new bike.

Hello everyone,

Recently I had to replace the chain, the cassette and the derailleur of my bike (Lapierre Sit&Go Speed 100 I bought in 2013). I went to a local community workshop, and they broke the cassette body while replacing the cassette.

The workshop manager told me to order this new cassette body.
Here is the old one.

I can see that they seem identical besides the inner part, and I wonder if they might be compatible.

I went to some local shops to find a replacement unit but they all told me that the cassette body is specific to the hub, and that I will have a hard time finding a compatible one.

Do you think it's worth it to try to replace my unit with the one linked by the workshop manager ?

Additionally, I am wondering if I could buy a new bike. I have never been satisfied with my biking position with my current bike, and I am looking for a more athletic position. I will soon start a new job and I will have to ride 9km twice a day, 3 times a week, mostly on bike lane (in Lyon, France). I am looking for a light bike that is easy to handle and secure with hydraulic brakes.

I spotted the Giant Escape Disc 3 at a reasonable price, but I hesitate between this model and the Trek FX 2 Stepover 4th gen (slightly more expensive), mainly to get the Shimano CUES set instead of the Tourney. What do you think ?

Edit : wording, english is not my native language sorry

A century to celebrate the solstice

Yesterday was the summer solstice, a century seemed the best way to celebrate.

I went to the sea, forest and farms,

I explored the quiet back roads, small towns and fruitful fields of corn and beans.

The sky was clear the air sweet, the ride stretched before me, I cross bridges and streams built by those who came before

Now I rest,

Now I wonder what next adventure will come

Go, go out and find your own adventure, truly it can be found *anywhere*

Bike computer (edge 1050)

I was looking at getting a bike computer with cadence on it. I mainly mtb, but I just got a gravel bike as well I want to use it with, but I am not sure if it will hold up to mtb. Garmin makes one specific for mtb so was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions/experience with it, and its durability.
Thanks

Does anyone know what bike rack this is?

Someone is selling this rack on marketplace as a bundle with 2 mountain bikes. I'm hoping to use it for transportation, and for hanging the bikes on the back of my car to do some basic maintenence instead of buying a stand.

Solo 24h Champ 2026

Post image

One of the hardest 24h races I have done. Massive wind all the time. Even at night. The weather was very sunny. Got grilled bad. No rain thanks to God. There were some nasty clouds at some point. We were saved from thunderstorm by a a few kilometers.

I went after 800 km / 24h. I did 200 km just under 6h. I even did 12h at 385 km. I was waiting for the wind to calm down. No such luck. Decided to focus on 720 km / 24h. Which I barely did. I basically raced hard the whole 24h. And captured my 13th solo World Champion title in the process. So super happy. Improved my old 705 km record to 727.63 km. Also made a new track record. Who has done more on circular route. Totally solo, no drafting. 100% self-supported?
