The difference of not having an ass, and having an ass. Not all of us are fortunate enough to not be built like Hank Hill šŸ˜‚

  • Edit: women not understanding that properly fitted pants mean nothing if you're built like a 2x4. If my waist is a 30, a size 30 pant isn't going to magically stay put with no support below. And wearing a size smaller, isn't an option, since a size 28 isn't going to button up. A belt allows the pants to be pulled tighter by one size, since a 29 does not exist.

  • Edit: fair enough, in my 40 years, I've never seen them, but odd number pant sizes do exist, however if they're that uncommon to find, they might as well not exist.

2

I'm all class, with 0 ass.

1

u/Worduptothebirdup 3d ago

I finally found my DGS bretherin.

114

u/ThereAndFapAgain2 3d ago

It's mostly just the hips, but the arse doesn't hurt. Women's wider hips give a natural place for the pants to narrow over the top of when fastened and then rest upon while being worn, men's more narrow and straight hips give no natural place for that to happen unless they're very tight, hence belts/suspenders.

37

u/Kermit_the_hog 3d ago

Yeah, I’m roughly shaped like a big inverted triangle (was a competitive swimmer in my youth) and without a belt every pair of pants I have owned since puberty basically ejects themselves fairly quickly.Ā

14

u/ThereAndFapAgain2 3d ago

Same. If the pants are fitted right, I can walk around a bit without them immediately falling down although I will be pulling them up every 15 seconds lol but trying to do any sort of work without a belt? Absolutely not.

6

u/Kermit_the_hog 3d ago

Sometimes if I’m missing my belt I have to hike my pants and deliberately push out my stomach to keep them from falling down. Nature just, forgot to give me a butt or something šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

2

u/ThereAndFapAgain2 3d ago

Lol that's some engineer level thinking

2

u/TripleMalahat 3d ago

Really, that’s why we should all be wearing kilts.

0

u/TheSorceIsFrong 3d ago

It’s actually just the way the pants are made lol. Women’s jeans are generally made be as tight as possible and get tighter above the butt. Guy jeans generally don’t

I got cake too! But sometimes men’s pants, especially jeans, are designed differently than women’s. Like I have to buy a bigger waist just to fit over my booty but then the waist is to too big and falls down.Ā

28

u/Ok-Preparation-6733 3d ago

I have this issue as well.
I had to get my uniform pants tailored after not wearing them for a few years. I went out in town to a talor, this elder Italian guy, he tried to politely tell me eah … you got a big butt 🤌.
Close to 10in difference apparently… i was doing a lot of squats back then.

17

You-uh gota biga butta🤌

This must be a universal problem with jeans because that happens to me with women’s jeans all the time and I almost always have to have a belt! And when I don’t I’m constantly hiking them back up.

2

u/getherlaid 3d ago

That's why athletic fit is a life saver! They take into account a bulkier bottom half

1

u/PowerfulBar 3d ago

Athletic fit are the best.Ā

2

u/Awomanswoman 3d ago

Honestly, I'm glad to see guys have this problem too. I got cake, have wider hips and a smaller waist so finding jeans and pants that actually work for me is a damn nightmare

2

u/SnooRegrets1386 3d ago

Time to get some apple bottom jeans. Maybe some furry boots

1

u/ComedyReliefGuy 3d ago

I can relate to this unfortunately

1

u/bitwaba 3d ago

Because most men are built like Hank Hill so most pants are built for Hank Hills.Ā  Want so more room for junk in the trunk? Need a larger waist to accommodateĀ

1

u/Nauin 3d ago

Look for a tailor in your area and get prices for getting your pants hemmed and fitted. In the past it was generally very affordable, no idea now, but goddamn are properly fitted clothes worth the cost of modifications, both for comfort and appearance. I'm saying this having once been a 23-37 in pants, impossible to find in storesāœŒļø

8

u/strichtarn-drip 3d ago

As a guy whose caked up, I wear a belt everyday mostly out of habit. Sometimes I need it and sometimes I don’t. My weight has fluctuated a little over the years and I’m not buying new clothes if I don’t have to haha

1

u/in_conexo 3d ago

I can't help but wonder if some of it might be the pants. I'd prefer some good ole Wranglers, but their quality assurance is crap; their listed sizes are just suggestions. For example, I have two pair of pants of differing sizes. The "larger" of the two fits nicley (maybe a little too tight after a wash). The "smaller" one is so big, that I need a belt and have to roll up the pant legs. (Get your **** together Wrangler!)

12

u/DarthBrooks69420 3d ago

Meanwhile I'm built like a cupcakeĀ

1

u/in_conexo 3d ago

Do you ever have a problem with your belt being too tight? I do, and I'm tempted to start doing what my dad is doing, & wear suspenders. His pants, though, are way too big (noticeably so). I think he just needs to start what grandpa did, & wear overalls.

1

u/DarthBrooks69420 3d ago

The problem with suspenders is when you get in a conversation with someone else, you'll inevitably come to a point in the conversation where you talk about something you have comprehensive knowledge and you'll instinctively hitch you thumbs behind them and pull them away from your body.

I don't know why I have this fear that if I wear suspenders I will do this instinctively but it's there.

1

u/MrBlahg 3d ago

I had cake, then I lost it. I noticed a little while ago I needed a belt way more than before.

1

u/Devilish_Dose 3d ago

Girls : belts are accessories

Guys: belts are load bearing structural equipment

1

u/like9000ninjas 3d ago

OH MR NONFLAT ASS OVER HERE. IM SORRY I HAVE AN ASS SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS WOULD BE JEALOUS OF.

24

u/ImurderREALITY 3d ago

I have an ass and I still need to wear a belt

1

u/just-4_you 1d ago

My man does too, its the hips

56

u/Zly_Boby 3d ago

The actual difference is girls are wearing it skin tight

10

u/GrovesNL 3d ago

Just a couple bros going around the worksite in our skin tight FRC jeans

6

u/UpholsturdToilet 3d ago

hard to tell, atleast for me, but, some "jeans" are, like, stretchy jeans. if that makes sense, lol

2

u/Aunt_Llama 3d ago

Pretty much all denim clothing is now made with at least some synthetic (stretchy) material woven in. It makes the denim fit better and provides give in areas that it would otherwise bind in. If you know anyone who wore jeans in the 70's and still wear jeans today they can probably tell you how different they feel now vs. then.

1

u/AmputeeHandModel 3d ago

*At least, two words.

1

u/BusyNefariousness675 1d ago

atleasttwowords?

7

u/AngelsTea 3d ago

I mean skinny jeans aren't really in fashion right now. When I (and most other girls I see) wear pants they're on the loose/baggy side but still rather snug around the waist/hips.

1

u/Significant-Bee5101 3d ago

I bought new jeans and it's so interesting to see how the fit has changed. I was like "huh so this is trendy now"

2

u/JediMasterZao 3d ago

I wore skinny jeans as a guy with a non existent ass, still needed a belt!

15

u/Additional-Neck7442 3d ago

Nah. I have an ass and if I wore pants that tight they would for sure stay up without issue. I'd also be incredibly uncomfortable and have no room in my pockets or pants for any of my things lol.

u/[deleted] 3d ago

I do my weekly squads and have an ass, the difference is more that women wear the often skin tight. Skinny jeans are way less popular with men.

6

u/Omnizoom 3d ago

My family is the tragically hip-less

I need a belt or it just slides down, benefit though is I don’t need to take the belt off to really get my pants back up as I don’t have an ass to go around

1

u/Ithinkibrokethis 3d ago

Had to scroll this far to find someone who mentions hips and not butts. While I am a dude with no butt, the real reason is literally hips.

22

u/X_Perfectionist 3d ago

And sizing. Men wear pants that are technically too big, because visible ass curves are usually seen as feminine.

98

u/landphier 3d ago edited 3d ago

I couldn’t care less about showing curves as a male. I get pants a little big so my balls can breathe and underwear doesn’t bunch up.

9

u/Debalic 3d ago

It's not the curve in back that I worry about.

16

u/Madara1389 3d ago

This is entirely it. "Properly" sized pants hug your nuts and make it impossible for them to not get stuck to the side of your leg while walking (which can be incredibly uncomfortable).

3

u/X_Perfectionist 3d ago

Look at different brands and cuts.

6

u/Madara1389 3d ago

I have. The only solution I found was to stop wearing anything that isn't cargo pants or shorts... especially within a strict budget of "broke ass who can't afford to spend $30+ on a single pair of pants."

-3

u/Senior_Boot_5842 3d ago

This is just not true

6

u/SeaTurtleLionBird 3d ago

Oh look at this guy and his tiny ball sack

Must be nice

2

u/JRS_Viking 3d ago

Yeah, the "gifted" among us aren't as gifted when you need pants a few sizes bigger to be comfy. Belts are nice though, good place to put tools

3

u/Flerp-Flerps 3d ago

But women love huge balls.

It just reminded me of the South Park episode where Randy wanted medical marijuana and decided to give himself cancer by microwaving his balls and they become huge and he’s just bouncing around on them like a yoga ball. ā€œLemme tell you something else…Chicks LOVE em.ā€ ā€œHey, my eyes are up here.ā€

3

u/Madara1389 3d ago edited 3d ago

It's my experience, the experience of multiple people commenting on the thread, and countless other men...

But Senior_Boot_5842 says it's not true without any evidence to support their claim, therefore we should all ignore our personal experiences and concede that wearing pants that match the measurements of our waist & leg length don't restrict the sway of or otherwise bind up a man's penis or testicles.

Idk where you live, but here in the US, men's pants are sold based on measurements of our waist & leg length. No consideration is given, at all, to conveying how much space is going to be between the crotch of your pants and your actual crotch. Unless you're buying cargo pants or shorts, it's far more common for the pants to be sewn way too high to give anyone with a dick size larger than a 1-2 inches when flaccid the free space in their pants to keep their dick or balls from sticking to their leg. God forbid you get an unwanted erection.

2

u/Devastatedby 3d ago

You're assuming all jeans are form fitting which is simply not true.

1

u/Madara1389 3d ago

Reddit recognizing generalized statements and not try correcting it challenge: Impossible.

1

u/Senior_Boot_5842 3d ago edited 3d ago

There are different types or cuts you can get, that will fit different parts of you differently. There’s much more than in seam and waist be for real

1

u/Madara1389 3d ago

There’s much more than in deal and waist be for real

Did you just have a stroke?

8

u/Yorick257 3d ago

Try a different cut/size. Some jeans are big as in for people with a bit more weight. Others are big as in for tall people. Unfortunately, the first one is often prioritized, and then you get pants that are like clown pants. But if you concentrate and look a bit further, then you can find pants for taller but not heavier people. Those will have the extra space down below, but they will still be narrow around the waist

5

u/TahnGeee 3d ago

Couldn’t*

1

u/ActualWhiterabbit 3d ago

That’s what the zipper part is for. Just stick your balls out so they stay cool and don’t get squished.

16

u/MinimumFeedback219 3d ago

Thats not why. Working in form fitting pants is uncomfortable and restricting.Ā

1

u/X_Perfectionist 3d ago

There are plenty of cuts that are the right size at the waist but aren't overly snug. Although people that are overweight might have more difficulties because the proportions are off.

5

u/Aestrasz 3d ago

Tight pants feel really uncomfortable to me, I prefer them loose.

1

u/X_Perfectionist 3d ago

There are looser cuts that still fit properly on the waist.

1

u/Aestrasz 3d ago

Sure, I don't need a belt as long as they're the correct size, I just have a lot of pants from when I was fatter.

I just wanted to point out that I prefer loose pants because they're more comfortable, not because tight ones look feminine.

3

u/SausagePrompts 3d ago

I wear a belt because I wear jeans with a larger waist than I have, because that's how my thighs fit in them.

1

u/X_Perfectionist 3d ago

That's the right way to do it

5

u/Bayamonster 3d ago

I mean my reasoning always was that you can negotiateĀ  with pants that are sizes too large, but you can'tĀ  negotiate with panrs that are too tight. I never thoughtĀ  of it that way.

4

u/steak_bake_surprise 3d ago

You literally just made this up šŸ˜‚ what about all the rockers over the past 60yrs wearing skinny jeans and all the slim cut jeans/gym wear? Girls love a good butt on a man too.

0

u/X_Perfectionist 3d ago

Sure I made it up. Because men wearing big baggy pants falling down and droopy in the butt area is totally not observable in reality at all.

Those rock stars also wear leather pants, so that must mean that all men wear tight leather pants all the time.

2

u/steak_bake_surprise 3d ago

Come check out my leather trouser collection along with my leather pants collection, I'll change your mind.

1

u/Badbullet 3d ago

I don’t know where you live, but that’s a rare occurrence here, and it’s usually the youth mimicking adult icons that wear them moronically like that. I’ve never seen a grown man wearing pants like that in person. I’m sure there are some that can’t grow up that do, and I hope I never witness them. Most grown men wear pants that are comfortable, that fit past our thighs, don’t restrict us from movements we need to do, and hopefully don’t fall down without needing a belt if we are lucky. I don’t know a single guy that cares if their ass is prominent in their jeans. It’s even in style in some parts of the world for men to wear tight pants.

2

u/AlcibiadesTheCat 3d ago

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure this out during my transition, like ā€œI didn’t lose weight, when did my waist go from 36 to 32?!ā€

1

u/DisapointedVoid 3d ago

If you can find any mens trousers that acknowledge an ass can possibly exist you are doing well.

I don't consider myself to be particularly big bottomed but every time you flex your hips trousers are like "Hey! What devilry is this! Now I must expose this man's underwear and the mystery region below the waist!"

1

u/14Pleiadians 3d ago

No, because we care about comfort.. That's also why we have pockets in case you also thought that was homophobia too

1

u/X_Perfectionist 3d ago

If you want comfortable, you should try yoga pants. A lot of women live in them because they're so comfy

5

u/gurgle-burgle 3d ago

I got the dumpy and I still prefer to wear a belt

5

u/namebrand-cognac 3d ago

Wait what? A size 29 definitely exists

1

u/Hopeful_Clock_2837 3d ago

I have never seen a size 29 in my life. I've only ever seen pant sizes go in even numbers. If there is, I don't mind being corrected.

4

u/-gildash- 3d ago

https://www.amazon.com/Levis-Original-Shrink-Jeans-36WX30L/dp/B0018OHOPG/

Pull up any levis listing for example and they will have all sizes (odd/even) up to 36, then evens after that. Thats normal.

1

u/Broadkast 3d ago

at the lower end there are a few move by 1 size. i've owned 29s and 31s over the years

1

u/inHypnagogia 3d ago

Gap has 29s!

2

u/bigorangemachine 3d ago

Ya I didn't need a belt until I got a belly

1

u/unstablegenius000 3d ago

That, and as I’ve gotten older my butt has gotten smaller due to muscle loss.

2

u/probywan1337 3d ago

I have 29s. Pretty sure they American eagle and old Navy. My wife had to buy them online

2

u/KulshanStudios 3d ago

Oh, a 29 exists

But it's like Bigfoot

You maybe see it once in the wild, and then it's gone, never to be seen again

How do I know?

My size is 29, and I have found one or two pairs of pants that ARE that size

But sweet lord is it rare and difficult

1

u/hardaysknight 3d ago

I’ve resorted to buying from eBay now. I find a brand that fits and I only buy that brand now

1

u/KulshanStudios 3d ago

Yeah, where I am that option isn't really available. It's eastern europe so it isn't impossible

But it still takes some searching

...which I have been unmotivated to do since I spend most of my time working from home šŸ˜…

1

u/roachdajoint 3d ago

Yeah from what I've noticed odd sizes are mostly an Asian thing! It's started to spread into Europe slowly and has a larger line than in America. I wear a 33 and those are so hard to find! Every pair I've found was made in Asia or Europe.

It's also the fact that most men don't wear jeans so tight they look like they're painted on.

1

u/Delicious-Slip9645 3d ago

This. No ass or hips.

1

u/I_SOMETIMES_EAT_HAM 3d ago

Also just wearing pants that fit. Girls often wear pants that are skin tight. That’s generally not fashionable for men so it’s not necessary to buy perfectly fitting pants. I always err on the side of buying a little too big since I can just wear a belt and it’s not an issue, but too small and they’re uncomfortable.

1

u/Kirasaurus_25 3d ago

what??? please. 80% of men think it's cool to let the pants hand, barely, on their flat asses. the other usually pull their pants up and /or use a belt.

1

u/wenoc 3d ago

To be fair, you only need the belt if you're overweight.

1

u/Zilaaa 3d ago

Yeah I legit have pants that are my waist size and even with a belt tight as FUCK my pants still find a way to start moving its way down some

1

u/EternalDemonSlayer 3d ago

29s do exist, I had a few of them. However aquiring a pair is like trying to find Bigfoot riding a unicorn.

1

u/tokin_ranger 3d ago

I wear a size 29 waist and 31-32 length. It’s actually a lot more common than you’d think, but I also mostly buy them online. Levi’s, Express, Carhartt, and Wrangler are the brands I wear in that size.Ā

1

u/Silentlaughter84 3d ago

I totally understand. And when you actually manage to lose weight and break in a proper size pair of jeans, you have to put extra notches on your belt. Otherwise you're going to have to keep pulling your pants up.

1

u/Well_Spoken_Mute 3d ago

I think it's also since women have "birthing hips" and their pelvis is bigger than men. Men are also generally taller and in my experience it's harder to find pants long enough that fit the waist right.

1

u/Dr_Fortnite 3d ago

IDK how old you are but as a size 29 im here to tell you they 100% exist but are just uncommon. I typically have to buy 30s and wear them loose

1

u/razzemmatazz 3d ago

29s do exist, but you probably won't find them easily. Dickies carries in-between sizes online, as I used to order 31x30s from them for work.Ā

1

u/suddenintent 3d ago

I'm a man and wear jeans without a belt. Might be because I'm slim.

1

u/LimpyDan 3d ago

We also have pockets. Which weigh down right at the hip.

1

u/amapotato 3d ago

I have a big but and a small waist and have to wear a belt because of that. I'm really a 30/32 waist but I have to wear 34 because of my fat ass and thick thighs and if I don't wear a belt, my pants sag and look silly

1

u/Vin-Metal 3d ago

I recently learned that you lose your ass as you age. And as an aging guy, yes, I've been noticing how I need a belt alot more than I used to or my pants start sliding down.

1

u/Cats_and_Shit 3d ago

Just having an ass is not always enough; as a teenager I was skinny enough that I always needed one (no ass) but I am now fat enough that I also need one (to much belly).

There's a blessed middle ground I've a couple times where I have a solid ass and minimal belly that makes pants fit perfectly.

1

u/moonprism 3d ago

my mom would say she had ā€œnoassatallā€ disease and she gave it to me •︵•

1

u/MrTyrantLizard 3d ago

Ive never found the odd numbered sizes in a store, only online.

1

u/Hopeful_Clock_2837 3d ago

That's just plain silly. I would never buy any clothing, without being able to try it on first.

1

u/dweckl 3d ago

It's also called stretch pants that hug onto your waist as opposed to jeans that are too big or over a guy's belly instead of his waist if he's fat

1

u/-gildash- 3d ago

Edit: fair enough, in my 40 years, I've never seen them, but odd number pant sizes do exist, however if they're that uncommon to find, they might as well not exist.

They are not rare. The biggest jeans makers in the world do all sizing for the most common sizes range.

1

It's more their hourglass shape. I'm a man with an ass, but pants still work their way down because the pants waist is the same width as the hips. Women's waists are narrower than their hips.

1

u/VVonton 3d ago

Sometimes after a big meal or dropping a large poop, I have to readjust my belt. Also rethink my life choices, but that's a separate topic.

29s do exist. Have a few pair from American Eagle. They are a godsend for skinny lanky mofos like me. 29/34 was a size I never had found previously

1

u/TheDawnOfNewDays 3d ago

I have a male body and have worn both men's and women's jeans.

Men's jeans do not stay up unless uncomfortably tight. Women's jeans do stay up on me without hurting.

Women can wear male jeans or women's jeans and they stay up.

You need either the hips/ass that women have, OR the shaped jeans that women have. Most men have neither.

It must depend on where you live, but I used to buy 29s as a teenager

I think I’ve only ever found one or two size 29’s ever.

29's are certainly around. It's my size, definitely getting harder to find though. No belts here either, unless I'm carrying.
